Quick Update
How's everyone going these days? I hope you're all keeping safe and well, with plenty of BL to keep you company.
I've been less motivated to write about the BL series that I've been watching lately, but I'll try to get around to it soon.
In the meantime, here are some viewing tips for you:
Cherry Magic: Thirty Years of Virginity Can Make You a Wizard??: only two episodes are out at the time of writing but this series is already one of my favourites. This strange workplace romance story with a supernatural twist is Japanese BL perfection, and brilliantly funny too. And it has the best BL title ever.
Gameboys: believe the hype. This powerful, emotional, adorably cute Filipino series is THE best BL of 2020. If you liked Hello Stranger, multiply your feelings about it by 100 and you'll be somewhere close to how good this series is.
Like In The Movies / Gaya Sa Pelikula: Pinoy BL is taking over the world! Another fantastic series that's still unfolding at the time of writing, bringing us two leads with great chemistry and a story with a new take on BL. Bonus points for the women characters too, all of them are fun to watch.
I Told Sunset About You: just when you think 2020 can't deliver another top-tier BL, along comes this extraordinary, revolutionary series that redefines Thai BL. Its simple story takes its time to reveal its strength and ambitions over 5 episodes, but it gathers cumulative emotional force as it progresses, and it's unlike any other BL-viewing experience I've ever had. Some of its beautifully choreographed scenes are so powerful, you'll be holding your breath watching them as they play out silently on screen. Its production, soundtrack and cinematography are breathtakingly distinctive, for a genre that isn't usually interested in making a visual or aesthetic impact. (Has Phuket ever looked this beautiful on film?) It's still got an episode to play out at the time of writing, so I won't say much more (there's certainly plenty to dislike about it too), but if you watch only one BL series this year, make it this one. Update: the final episode has SLAIN me! God, this series is just so good.
Boys Lockdown: yet another Filipino BL series set during the pandemic, this one is sweet and funny and great in all the ways that Filipino BLs seem to be better than Thai BL - with more realistic plots, credible leads, and phenomenal women characters. For such a short series, it runs out of ideas quickly and drags through some sections. But anyway, I've watched a few episodes so far, and while it doesn't have the emotional impact of Gameboys or the depth of the LGBTQI subtext in Gaya Sa Pelikula, it has its own charms, especially in its lead actors. And there's some smoking hot eye candy here too, with two muscular hunk side characters who spend almost all their screen time with their shirts off! What's not to like about that?
Thank you for all your comments and kind words too, each and every one of you is giving me life.

PS do recommend me some bls to watch for now. Meanwhile I keep repeating Bad buddy episodes which I love for the great comic timings.
